Project Steps
Please note: Seeds to Saplings provides instructions for growing northern red oak, white oak, and sugar maple - trees that are native to eastern Canada. If you live outside of eastern Canada and these trees are not native to your area, you can still follow the general guidelines provided but change the details to match the native trees near you.
To find native trees near you, download the My Tree app or go to the Tree Canada website. Once you have selected a native tree that grows in your area, use the free online Woody Plant Seed Manual to find instructions on growing your tree. The manual provides details on seed collection timing, stratification temperature, and planting locations for every major tree species in North America. Please contact us if you need help with this!
